Comprehensive Neuropsychology Assessments

A neuropsychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation that examines a person's cognitive abilities, including memory, attention, language, and problem-solving, to understand how brain functions are related to behavior and daily life.

Neuropsychological assessments look at a range of brain functions, such as:

  • Attention and concentration: The ability to focus and maintain focus.
  • Memory: The ability to learn, store, and retrieve information.
  • Visual perception: The ability to interpret visual information.
  • Language: The ability to understand and use language.
  • Problem-solving skills: The ability to think critically and solve problems.
  • Executive functions: Higher-level cognitive skills like planning, decision-making, and organization.

Types of Assessments Available.

Capacity Assessments

A neuropsychology assessment for capacity evaluates a person's ability to make reasoned and informed decisions, focusing on cognitive functions relevant to decision-making, and can be used to assess capacity for legal, financial, or medical matters.

NDIS

A neuropsychology assessment for the NDIS evaluates brain function and cognitive abilities to identify and understand any impairments, helping to determine eligibility for NDIS support and tailor intervention plans.

In-Patient Hospital Assessments

Alex is credentialled with the Southern Adelaide Local Health Network and Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network and can provide neuropsychology assessments for in-patients at hospitals in these areas.

Acquired Brain Injury

A neuropsychological assessment for acquired brain injury (ABI) is a comprehensive evaluation that uses standardized tests and procedures to identify and quantify cognitive, emotional, and behavioral changes resulting from brain damage, guiding rehabilitation and treatment planning.

Psychoeducation

A neuropsychology assessment for psychoeducation goes beyond standard psychoeducational evaluations by examining how brain function impacts learning and behavior, providing insights into underlying neurocognitive processes to inform interventions.

We do not offer assessments for ADHD or ASD diagnosis.

Medico-Legal Assessments

A medico-legal neuropsychological assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of an individual's cognitive and emotional functioning, using standardized tests and procedures, to provide insights into brain health and its impact on legal matters like personal injury, disability, or criminal cases.
